I need invitations - where do I start?
Here are a few questions that can help get you started on creating your invitation:
- What is the theme/style of your wedding or event?
- What colors, shapes, and styles would you like
to convey in your wedding or event?
- What additional information would you like to
provide each guest e.g. map, reception information, brunch information,
and gift registry information?
- How many invitations will you need?
- What is your invitation budget?
- Should you send out Save-The-Date-Cards?
- Is the location and any additional information
finalized?
- Are there any special verses that you would
like to incorporate? Photos?
- Would you like to look at ordering ceremony
programs, menus, place cards, seating charts, table numbers?
When should we send out the invitations?
Wedding invitations should be sent out six to eight weeks before the
event itself. If your wedding falls during the holidays or many of
your guests are traveling from out of town, then ten to twelve weeks
is recommended and this gives everyone time to prepare. If your wedding
is taking place in a destination setting or falling on a holiday
it is a good idea to send Save-The-Date cards 4-6 months in advance
of the wedding date. Invitations for other events/parties should
be sent out 4-6 weeks in advance.
Do you have a retail store?
InkBlot Design has private Invitation Studio that gives each couple
a chance to touch and feel our extraordinary collection of handmade
papers and samples of various invitations. If you would like to book
an appointment please send an e-mail at info@inkblotdesign.ca or
call us at 514-708-0464 / 514-260-1435.
How can we place orders?
Please contact us via e-mail or
phone and we will ship your order as quickly as we can.
Should we order our Thank You cards at the same time as our
invitations?
We strongly recommend that you do. We can guarantee that the material
needed is ordered at the same time as your invitations, so we are not
faced with backorders because of out of stock situations or discontinued
product. Most importantly, it's one less headache to deal with once
your day is over and the dust has settled.
Customizing Your Invitations
We have large selection of pearlized and non-pearlized papers in an
assortment of colors, textures and designs. The possibilities are
endless…we can match your invitation to your own personal style by
adding matching ribbon, cutout, or even crystals. As a paper reseller,
we import a wide selection of papers, envelopes, stationery, greeting
cards, and other paper products to provide you with the best selection
possible at the best price.
Additional Invitation Inserts and Maps
You can include additional inserts to go along with your wedding invitations.
Most common inserts used include: maps, direction cards, reception
information, donation cards, additional RSVP cards, hotel accommodations,
travel information, gift registry and an entourage list.
More Than One Layout or Response Card
If you need more than one layout (for example if you are inviting some
guests to the church and reception and some guests to the reception
only) we will happily do that for you. Just let us know how many
of each version you will need. We can also print response cards with
more than one response date if needed, free of charge!
Bilingual/Multicultural Invitations
Alternate languages can be used. You can either make the entire invitation
in one language, or if the style allows for it, include an additional
language on another attached insert, or as an additional insert in
the pocket of the invitation
Invitation Wording
Once you have chosen the style of invitation we provide a few traditional
wording layout templates for you to use as a guide to start from,
but if you have your own wording in mind, we can definitely use that
instead – as long as it fits within the amount of space we have to
work with. If you want to add a short poem or verse to either the
cover, or tag/seal of the invitation, that can also be done.
Ink Colors and Methods of Print
All of our stationery is printed digitally in-house. There are some
limitations associated with digital printing such as slight shifts
in color and the inability to print metallic shades (silver, gold,
etc.). Digital printing keeps the overall costs down for our couples
while maintaining exceptional quality. You can use multiple ink colors
on the layouts however; we recommend only using 2 colors to match
your paper and ribbon colors.
Cards for All Occasions
We've cater to many Corporate events, Bar/Bat Mitzvah's, Baptism, Birthday/Anniversary,
House Warming & other types of parties & events! Please contact
us for further information, so that we can help set the tone for
your important day!
Invitation Size
Our invitations come in many shapes and sizes. Please keep in mind
that larger sizes will incur more postage and more material costs.
Most of our invitations do require extra postage not because of
the size but because of the thickness of the overall package. Single
panel invitations with no bows will be standard postage. Please check
with your local post office for more information when mailing the
invitations.
We get many requests for different configurations
of our invitations – we will provide our expert opinion on the requests
that you may have to ensure that your invitations come out beautifully.
As you can see, all of our work is custom and handmade, so we are able
to accommodate most requests.
